SSS Research Inc. is an emerging growth, highly motivated software research and development firm. The company was founded with the mission to improve our capability to analyze, visualize, and manipulate information. The company develops products and services that enable end users to understand complex information sets and convert this understanding into better decisions. The company has landed several government research contracts and has built technology and two products embodying the technology that help intelligence analysts manipulate, fuse, visualize, and evaluate information. These products, DECIDE™ (Intelligence Analysis) and FUSION™ (Information Fusion), enable intelligence analysts to assemble and de-conflict information sets, construct intelligence arguments, compare alternative hypotheses, score the strength of the arguments, and thereby help the analysts produce valid intelligence conclusions. The company is in the process of adding a third product, THINK Interface (AJAX & Visualization SDK) to the market in early 2006. Stephen G. Eick, Ph.D. – Chief Scientist and Founder
Stephen G. Eick is a serial entrepreneur and well-known research scientist. SSS Research is his fourth technology startup company and the third company that he founded or co-founded. His educational background includes a B.A from Kalamazoo College (1980), M.A. from the University of Wisconsin at Madison (1981), and his Ph.D. in Statistics from the University of Minnesota (1985).

Dr. Eick joined Bell Laboratories after graduate school where he became interested in technology startup companies and led a Lucent technology spinout company called Visual Insights. After Visual Insights, he co-founded Visintuit, a government contracting company, and founded SSS Research on October 1, 2003. He is an adjunct professor at the University of Illinois Chicago and a fellow of the American Statistical Association. He has received 28 patents, and has won many awards for his technology including the Bell Lab’s President’s award and the 2000 Computer-world Smithsonian award for key technologies that change the way people live and work.
Kenneth Berbert – Vice President of Sales and Marketing
Kenneth Berbert is responsible for developing and implementing strategic partnerships, achieving substantial long-term revenue growth throughout the United States and Europe. Ken has more than 25 years of broad experience in the technology industry, software engineering, general management, sales, marketing and business development. Ken has played a critical role in the successes of six startups. Since 1986, he has been involved with startups in the emerging technology arena. Ken has been involved in early Enterprise Messaging, Artificial Intelligence, Object Oriented development, CORBA, Java, Natural Language and Voice recognition technologies. Ken is an alumnus of Benedictine University in Lisle, Illinois. He currently sits on the Advisory Board for Quovis Systems and BITSPoint, Inc.
M. Andrew Eick – Chief Software Architect
Andrew Eick has over 14 years of software project management, system design and analysis, research and development, and strategic planning experience. Andrew’s responsibilities include designing and leading the development activities across SSS Research’s multiple product lines. Andrew has a solid track record of solving complex technology problems, and innovative development of software solutions for various industries. Andrew has architected, developed and deployed many large scale content development and distribution applications. In 1995 Eick implemented the in dealership service literature delivery platform for Ford Motor Company. This platform was deployed to all North American Ford dealerships (in the English, Spanish, and French languages) to enable the viewing of repair information. This solution proved successful, and, in 1998 Eick led the rollout of the system to Ford of Europe delivering content in 20 European Union languages. In 2000 Eick moved “upstream” into the content authoring side of the business, architecting and leading a 15 person implementation team for Ford’s Content Management system. He then implemented an automated workflow system which drives the development and signoff for thousands of documenters annually.

Andrew Eick has won numerous awards including a Trade Secret and Patent invention, the Vice President’s Select Project award, and the Division Outstanding project Award.
Diane Saxon – Chief Financial Officer
Diane Saxon brings over 16 years of financial experience to the company. Diane is responsible for SSS Research’s corporate finance, administration, and human resources functions. Before joining SSS Research, Diane was the Vice President/Controller at Van Kampen Trust Company and was selected to be on the Board of Directors. She was responsible for the accuracy of Van Kampen’s general ledger, managed month end closing, performed high level review and analytics, financial reporting, and regulatory reporting to the SEC and the NASD. At Van Kampen she supervised a staff of 12 accountants. Prior to Van Kampen, Diane worked at KPMG Peat Marwick from 1987 to 1995 as a Staff Accountant and was promoted to Senior Manager when she left in 1995 to join Van Kampen Investments, Inc. as Corporate Accounting Manager.
Mike Profita – Advisor
Michael J. Profita most recently was Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Quantitative Data Solutions LLC (QDS), a leading provider of information and infrastructure solutions for the financial services market. The company offers proprietary data products and transaction software that improves process efficiency and product profitability for insurers, banks and credit issuers. QDS was acquired by Transamerica Reinsurance in February, 2005. Profita has 27 years of financial, operating and international expertise developed in a broad range of experience as a senior executive with several high tech companies, as a small business owner and as an angel investor. Previously, Profita was a consultant/advisor to several early stage technology entities in the enterprise software, data management and Internet infrastructure verticals. He provided financial management expertise and assisted these entities in raising over $38 million in private equity financing.
Keith Walz – Advisor
Keith Walz is President of ABN AMRO Capital (USA) and is a Managing Director in ABN AMRO’s Global Private Equity division. Mr. Walz joined ABN AMRO Capital (USA) at inception in 1996. As a Senior Partner, Mr. Walz participated in the sourcing, evaluation, and monitoring of over 35 investments, representing $200 million of capital invested. Mr. Walz specializes in Enterprise Software and Network Infrastructure investments and has served on the Board of Directors of over a dozen companies in which ABN. AMRO has invested. Also, he has held operating roles with ABN AMRO portfolio companies, including Chairman and CEO of Worldweb.net. Mr. Walz is also the President of Sand Hill IT Security Acquisition Corporation, a targeted acquisition company in the IT Security sector. Prior to joining ABN AMRO Capital, Mr. Walz was a Vice President in ABN AMRO’s Investment Banking division, responsible for financial reporting, analysis, and systems. Prior to joining ABN AMRO he spent two years as a finance associate with Tyson Foods, Inc., where he focused on enhancing enterprise business processes and systems through the use of client/server computing technologies. Mr. Walz is a director of GT Nexus, Yellowbrix, Oasis Technology and Sand Hill IT Security Acq. Corporation. He received an M.B.A. from DePaul University and a B.S. in Finance from the University of Arkansas.
